### Support for direct debit mandates on Recipients

Platforms using direct debit pay-ins (SEPA or Bacs) can now integrate mandates on Recipients instead of legacy Bank Accounts.

Existing active mandates continue to remain operational, but new mandates should be created against a Recipient object with the relevant values for each scheme:

<table>
  <thead>
    <tr>
      <th class="header">
        Mandate

        `Scheme`
      </th>

      <th class="header">
        `SEPA`
      </th>

      <th class="header">
        `BACS`
      </th>
    </tr>
  </thead>

  <tbody>
    <tr>
      <th class="header">
        Recipient

        `Currency`
      </th>

      <td class="table-content">
        `EUR`
      </td>

      <td class="table-content">
        `GBP`
      </td>
    </tr>

    <tr>
      <th class="header">
        Recipient

        `PayoutMethodType`
      </th>

      <td class="table-content">
        `LocalBankTransfer`

         or

        `InternationalBankTransfer`
      </td>

      <td class="table-content">
        `LocalBankTransfer`

         only (

        `InternationalBankTransfer`

         not supported)
      </td>
    </tr>

    <tr>
      <th class="header">
        Recipient

        `RecipientScope`
      </th>

      <td class="table-content">
        `PAYIN`

         or

        `PAYOUT`
      </td>

      <td class="table-content">
        `PAYIN`

         or

        `PAYOUT`
      </td>
    </tr>
  </tbody>
</table>

As indicated, for direct debits the `RecipientScope` can be `PAYIN`, which doesn't require SCA. You can also use a `PAYOUT` Recipient, but this requires SCA to register (unless your platform has set up proxy management and has the user's consent).

To support mandates using Recipients:

* The `RecipientId` property has been added to the [POST Create a Mandate](/api-reference/mandates/create-mandate) and [GET View a Mandate](/api-reference/mandates/view-mandate) endpoints. Platforms should send this property and not the `BankAccountId`.
* A new [GET List Mandates for a Recipient](/api-reference/mandates/list-mandates-recipient) endpoint is available.
