# Python SDK - 4.0.0

> **Note – Python 3.14 requires SDK version `4.0.1`**

> Python 3.14 is not usable on `4.0.0` due to a leftover `URLopener` reference that fails to import on 3.14. To run on Python 3.14, use `4.0.1` or later, which fixes this issue.

> This SDK major version increase drops Python 3.9 support, raises minimum dependency versions, and removes the legacy `setup.py` install path. Review the notes below and test your integration before upgrading in Production.

## Breaking change

### Python version support bumped, dropping 3.9

* **Dropped** Python 3.9 support
* **Added** Python 3.13 and 3.14 support
* Supported range is now `>=3.10,<3.15`

### Minimum dependency versions

* `requests` minimum raised from `2.32.3` to `2.34.2`
* `simplejson` minimum raised from `3.20.1` to `3.20.2`
* `pytz` minimum set to `2026.2`

### Removed `setup.py` install, `sample` console script, and dependency upper bounds

* `setup.py` is now empty — `python setup.py install` no longer works; use `pip install .` or `poetry install` instead
* Removed the `sample` console-script entry point (previously `sample=sample:main`); the `sample` command is no longer installed
* Dependencies now carry upper bounds (`requests <3`, `simplejson <4`, `blinker <2`); environments requiring a newer major of these packages are no longer resolvable

### Build system migration to Poetry

* Migrated from `setuptools` (`setup.py`) to [Poetry](https://python-poetry.org/), with `pyproject.toml` as the single project definition
* Removed legacy build and configuration files: `setup.py`, `setup.cfg`, `MANIFEST.in`, `tox.ini`, `Makefile`, `requirements/`, `DESCRIPTION.md`
* Production dependencies now use version ranges instead of pinned versions (e.g. `requests >=2.34.2,<3`)
